HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENT PROGRESS & ACTIVITIES.

Business Development

The Entrepreneur Centre at KEDCO and the Department of Small and Medium Enterprises of Public Works and Government Services Canada are presenting a Government Services for Small Business Information Fair and Workshop on Thursday, September 19.

The event is an opportunity for small business owners to engage government officials, participate in various workshops, be informed about Canadian innovation programs and learn about services available to support businesses.

The event will be held at the Ambassador Hotel and Conference Centre at 1550 Princess Street in Kingston and will begin at 8:30am with an information fair and will be followed by workshops at 10:45am and an Innovation Forum from 1:30pm – 4:30pm.

Tourism

Tourism Kingston is a proud sponsor of the upcoming Kingston Sheep Dog Trials taking place August 9-11 at Grass Creek Park.

The Trials annually attract over 7,000 spectators throughout the three day festival. Among the 2013 attractions will be the craft and artisans fair, sheep shearing, Kingston Police K-9 demonstrations and camel rides.

Corporate

The annual KEDCO Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Garrison Golf & Curling Club located at CFB Kingston followed by a dinner at Old Stones Bar at Grill at the Four Points by Sheraton Kingston.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC). The KMFRC is a registered non-profit, charitable organization that supports and enhances the health and well-being of the military community.

A meeting of KEDCO’s Strategic Planning Committee was held on July 24 to review 2014 priority sectors for implementation of the Strategic Plan 2010-2015.

The KEDCO Board of Directors will attend a half-day planning session on August 22 to review recommendations and plans for 2014.

The KEDCO offices will be closed on Monday, August 5 in observance of the August Civic Holiday. The office will re-open on Tuesday, August 6 at 8:30am. Tourism Kingston’s Visitor Information Centre at 209 Ontario Street will be open on the Civic Holiday Monday from 9:30am – 8:00pm.
