HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENT PROGRESS & ACTIVITIES

Business Development

On June 11, Christa Wallbridge, Business Development Officer attended a Defence and Security Procurement Pilot Seminar. The seminar gave an overview of the defence and security sector and outlined how businesses can participate in the new Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) for procurement with the Canadian Forces.

As part of KEDCO’s Company Visit Program, staff have completed 186 visits with local companies in the first half of 2013. The Company Visit Program is aimed at helping to support local businesses’ competitiveness by addressing their key needs and concerns in order to better understand what they do; strengthen the local supply chain through business to business connections; and identify investment support opportunities to assist with their growth and Kingston’s retention of their business.

Tourism Kingston

Tourism Kingston has partnered with the Kingston Accommodation Partners, Fort Henry National Historic Site, Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises/Kingston Trolley Tours and the Grand Theatre in an online marketing campaign.

The campaign, run by ReachLocal, an online marketing company, will boost web traffic, general awareness and unique visitors to the Tourism Kingston site.  The campaign will also feature special getaway packages and experiences for visitors to the city.
