KCVI & Polson Park P.S. Announce Musical Productions

Published on: 2011/04/19 - in Releases
From Wednesday May 4 to Saturday May 7,  KCVI will be presenting their production of Grease in the newly renovated auditorium.  Nick Trode as Danny Zuko and Megan Ready-Walters as Sandy Dumbrowski lead an amazingly talented KC cast as this smash hit musical.
Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959:  the duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical.  Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin”, “It’s Raining on Prom Night”, “Alone at the Drive-In Movie” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.
An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the  world’s most popular musicals!

Grease is being staged by Kevin Fraser-Director & Technical Director; Ian Juby- Musical Director; and Jaimie Henderson, a student, is the choreographer.

Tickets are $12 for students and seniors and $15 for adults.  Curtain is at 7:00 p.m.
And at Polson Park Public School, staff and students announced their upcoming performance of “How Does Your Garden Grow“.  Under the direction of Mrs. Martha Duncan and with the support of Mr. Nathan Nesdoly, Mme Gemma Zelmanovits, and Mme Melissa Gibaldi, students from Grade 1 to 6 have been busy learning their lines and rehearsing their scenes. As well, a number of JK to Grade 4 students have been meeting to practice the songs of this engaging musical.

“As we continue to promote the Arts at Polson Park School, this musical performance develops students? awareness of the environment, which is one of our school’s key goals as we pursue an ECO School designation,” says Principal Handley.

The school musical takes place on Tuesday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 20, at 7:00 PM.
