Attention heritage property owners: the City of Kingston is looking for input on its heritage property grant program so it can be improved to better support your efforts to conserve your property.
“Kingston is home to many beautiful heritage properties that help tell the story of our rich history,” says Paige Agnew, director of planning, building and licensing services. “The heritage property grant program helps preserve and protect these properties and we are looking to the public to share their input on how we can improve the program to ensure our past will remain a vibrant part of our future.”
Those who own properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act – and others with an interest in the program – are being asked to provide ideas and input on an updated draft of the City’s Heritage Grant by-law at a public open house on Tuesday, August 22 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a presentation from staff at 5 p.m., in the Heritage Resource Centre, City Hall, 216 Ontario St.

Apply for funding to support the conservation of your heritage property If you own a Kingston property that is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, you can apply to the heritage property grants program for funding to assist in the important conservation work you undertake on your heritage property.
The program currently offers funding for up to half of the cost of the eligible project to a maximum of $2,000. Applications are considered beginning March 1 of each year, and are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that the grant application requires you to also submit a heritage permit application for the work being proposed.
