RELEASE — The entries have all been processed and the winners’ names drawn after a second successful #HikeCRCA contest! A total of 42 people completed the challenge, a substantial increase over 2017 (the inaugural year) where 12 people completed the challenge.

The winner of the Family Challenge prize pack is Natalia Martinelli. The winner of the full #HikeCRCA challenge is Megan Laan. Annual pass winners are Stephanie Vincent, Amanda Bullock-Layfield, Cathy Anderson and Erin Mercier.

The idea for the event was to encourage individuals, groups, or families to spend some quality time together in nature, exploring the various trails at CRCA-owned conservation areas, and possibly win some great prizes.

The #HikeCRCA Challenge ran from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, 2018 and featured a simple, three-step contest entry process:
– Step 1: HIKE CRCA TRAILS – Hike the designated “challenge trail” at each of our Conservation Areas and one “designated section” of the Cataraqui Trail and find the special challenge sign with the #HikeCRCA logo.
– Step 2: POST A PHOTO ONLINE – Take a selfie with each of the challenge signs and post it to social media – Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Your post must include the hashtag #HikeCRCA and your location – the Conservation Area you are in.
Step 3: ENTER TO WIN – Hike the eight locations at our Conservation Areas and at least one location on the Cataraqui Trail then fill out the challenge form to enter the grand prize draw.

A special twist to this year’s event was a Family-Friendly Challenge where a family only had to visit four out of the nine locations and were able to enter a draw for a special family challenge prize.

The CRCA is appreciative of the generous sponsors who help made the #HikeCRCA Challenge a success: Atmosphere Kingston, Trailhead Kingston, County of Frontenac, Go Green Baby, the County of Lennox & Addington and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands.

Plans are already underway for the 2019 Edition of the #HikeCRCA Challenge.
