Police Investigating Fatal Collision Between City Bus and Pedestrian

Kingston Police have issued the following report and are seeking witnesses to this fatal collision

On November 3, 2017 at approximately 7:15 a.m. a collision occurred between a Kingston City Bus and pedestrian. The bus was traveling westbound on John Counter Boulevard when it turned left towards Leroy Grant Drive and struck a pedestrian. [map]

The pedestrian, a male in his 30’s has suffered fatal injuries.

Kingston Police Collision Reconstruction Officers are on scene investigating the cause of the collision.

John Counter Boulevard between Rigney Street and Lappan’s Lane is closed until the investigation is complete. Access to that area through Leroy Grant Drive is also closed. Please find alternate routes.

Anyone who was a passenger on the bus (#1255 #2 Via St Lawrence College) or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Constable Greg Smith at 613-549-4660 ext. 6277 or via email at gsmith@kingstonpolice.ca.

The City of Kingston confirms that earlier today a pedestrian was struck by a Kingston Transit bus.

Our first thoughts are with the pedestrian and their family. We also understand this is difficult for the employees involved.

The City is cooperating with Kingston Police as the investigation continues.
