Deadline For Healthy Community Fund Is September 23

Grants Support Heritage, Community Development And Recreation

This year, the United Way serving Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) will once again administer the City’s $192,650 Healthy Community Fund designed to foster projects that support the health of the community’s in the areas of community development, sports and recreation and heritage.

“The partnership with the United Way KFL&A on the Healthy Community Fund continues to work wonderfully,” says Brian McCurdy, Cultural Director for the City of Kingston. “The United Way does the City a great service in administering this key community-support initiative at no charge to taxpayers.”

Applications will be accepted under the following three categories: Heritage, Community Development, and Sports and Recreation. Grants up to a maximum of $20,000 will be offered in each category. The categories reflect the aims of the City’s Strategic Plan which identifies offering support to these groups as a community priority (www.cityofkingston.ca/cityhall/strategic/).

Interested community groups may wish to attend an Information Night set for 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 at Rideaucrest Home at 175 Rideau St. The deadline for applications to be received at the United Way KFL&A office, 417 Bagot St., is 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23.

It is anticipated that successful projects will be notified by Dec. 1.
