Kids who get the chance to participate in summer camps create memories, friendships and lessons that last a lifetime.

For nearly 25 years, the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority has hosted its popular Nature Explorers Camps throughout the summer months, offering children between the ages of six and 11 a chance to explore the great outdoors -‘unplugged’- through nature-inspired theme weeks. Camps take place at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area.

Participants will get many opportunities for hands-on learning, as well as spending two of the days each week swimming and playing on the beach at the Gould Lake Conservation Area.

The programs will be taught by fully qualified, well-trained and experienced counsellors, with a ratio of one instructor for every eight campers, meaning lots of chances for one-to-one mentoring and supervision. Each day will be filled with adventures, information and lots of fun, with campers coming home with a greater awareness and connection to the natural world.

The cost is $195 per child for a week, with hours running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Before and after care is available starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. for an additional charge of $25 per week. For shorter weeks due to statutory holidays, the fee is $156 for a four-day camp.

For more information, or to register, go to the CRCA’s summer camps page.

The Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area is located on Division Street just two kilometres north of Highway 401.

Entry fees are: $5.50 per person for adults and children over 12, and $3 per person for children 12 and under, to a maximum fee of $14 per car. Annual passes are available for $80 per year.
