Review Barriefield Heritage Conservation District Plan at Open House

Published on: 2014/06/13 - in Releases

The City invites residents to an open house to review the findings of an issues analysis report that will be used to help guide and update the Barriefield Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plan. This is the second in a series of open houses related to the review and update of the Barriefield HCD Plan, last updated in 1992.

The open house is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23 at St. Mark’s Anglican Church Hall, 268 Main St., in Barriefield Village (map). A presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Originally approved by the former Pittsburgh Township in 1979, the Village of Barriefield was one of the first Heritage Conservation Districts in the Province of Ontario.

The City is working with consulting firm of MHBC Planning to assess how the Barriefield Heritage Conservation District Plan is working and identify any opportunities to improve on the District Plan. MHBC will also prepare an update to the District Plan following this review and input from the public, stakeholders and City Council.
