RMC Earns OUA Honours in Consecutive Weeks, a School First

RELEASE — Anton Buciora of the Paladins men’s soccer team was named the OUA IG Wealth Management Athlete of the Week, powered by Planters, marking the first time in school history that RMC athletes have earned the honour in consecutive weeks.

Last week, RMC keeper Johnathan Ardell was given the award for his record-setting performances in a pair of Paladins victories. Ardell made a combined 23 saves in the two wins over Trent and UOIT, which were the first back-to-back wins for RMC since 2014.

Over the weekend, rookie midfielder Buciora and the Paladins played tough competition from Ryerson and Toronto.

Buciora scored the first goal of his U SPORTS career late in the game against Toronto, making a great run forward to get on the end of a through-ball from teammate Kiho Lee, then controlling it around the defender with one touch, and finishing into the back of the net. While the goal was not enough to carry RMC to victory, it broke a two-game scoreless drought for the Cadets.

The Paladins will be in action at home again this weekend, hosting Carleton and UOIT in a pair of 3:15 PM games on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
