Toronto-based indie songstress, Emma Cook, is thrilled to announce the release of her fourth album, Living Proof, which is set for release on February 2, 2018.

The record is a 10-song collection of powerful tracks, including the heartfelt lead single, I Will Stay – which has seen over 3.5k streams on Spotify in the few weeks since its release.

Produced and mixed by Dean Drouillard (Royal Wood), the album was recorded at Lincoln County Social Club and sees Emma’s evolution from her folk roots, into an edgier pop sensibility. Her stunning vocals are showcased beautifully over synths and melodic indie-pop styles.

“Living Proof explores what it means to be human, and particularly how we deal with loss, both of the selves we thought we knew and of those we love,” Emma explains. “This album was born out of a very challenging time in my life, after a bad head injury left me in a dark place, not knowing if or when I would recover. I wrote the whole album on piano, so it’s very different from my previous music, and definitely has more of a pop sensibility. Ultimately, Living Proof is an album of hope, and the drive we have to survive. I think the songs are accessible to everyone, as the themes really touch on what it means to be human.”

After a three-year battle with Post-Concussive Syndrome caused by a serious head injury, Emma drew 2016 to a close with the release of her third album, Same Old Song. The album debuted at #3 on the folk charts in Edmonton and landed Emma a sync licensing deal with Community Tree Music in Vancouver.

Earlier that year, Emma had also begun writing new songs, building the foundation for what would become Living Proof – the first single of which would help her reach the second round of CBC’s Searchlight competition.

Emma Cook will be preforming at Café Musiikki at 73 Brock Street on February 2nd. Be sure to also check out her website and Youtube channel.
