Published on: 2018/10/18 - in Releases

RELEASE — If you haven’t voted yet, plan to cast your ballot in the municipal election at your voting place in-person on Monday, Oct. 22 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Nearly 9,000 Kingstonians have already voted – that’s more than 10 per cent of the electorate:

  • 4,854 have voted online
  • 4,072 voted on the Advance Voting Day on Oct.13

Voters are reminded that this year’s municipal election ballot includes a Yes/No referendum question about whether they want to use a Ranked Ballot Voting system staring in 2022. Learn about Ranked Ballot Voting at CityofKingston.ca/RankedVoting.

The City will post unofficial results – including unofficial referendum results – on its website as they become available after 8 p.m. on Monday. Those election night results will also be broadcast on a screen in Memorial Hall, City Hall, 216 Ontario St.

You can ride Kingston Transit or Kingston Access Bus for free on Monday, Oct. 22 by presenting your VIN (remember to keep it for the ride home!).

Your final Voting Day locations are listed on your Voter Information Notice (VIN). You may vote at any voting place in your district. Don’t forget to bring the VIN with you when you go to vote along with acceptable identification, such as an Ontario driver’s licence or health card (photo card).

Don’t have a VIN?

You can still register to vote in-person:

  • Go to www.CityofKingston.ca/Vote to check your eligibility and find a list of acceptable documents for voter identification to bring with you to the voting place.
  • Select the green “In-person Voting” button and enter your address to find your voting place.
