La Salle Causeway Closure

The Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) closure of the La Salle Causeway is set for 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25 to 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26. PWGSC advises this closure is necessary to complete a structural repair that will ensure the continued safe operation of the bridge.

Plan your route now.

  • Cyclists and pedestrians: Kingston Transit will continue to provide 15-minute express service to Kingston East on Routes 601/602 during the LaSalle Causeway closure via Montreal Street-Highway 401-Highway 15. Remember, you can Rack and Roll on any Kingston Transit bus with your bicycle. PWGSC is offering a taxi shuttle service for pedestrians on either side of the bridge, but you must get to the bridge to take it.
  • Motorists: get in or out of Kingston’s east-end via Highway 15.
  • Boaters: boats less than four metres in height above the waterline can pass through the causeway via the east bridge.

See the full PWGSC closure notice in English and French at the bottom of this report for how to contact PWGSC for more information on this closure.
