City Police are reporting that a 62-year-old convenience store clerk suffered injuries during a violent robbery involving a gun.

The incident occurred on July 1 at 5:04 pm, when a lone male entered the Brock & Nelson Street store. The man then approached and struck the clerk, who was sitting behind the counter, multiple times in the head with a gun held in the assailant’s right hand.

The suspect also pointed the pistol in the face of the victim a number of times before obtaining a quantity of cash and fleeing the store.

The victim is currently recovering from facial injuries and cuts sustained during the assault.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit are looking for assistance in identifying the suspect in this violent robbery.

They are asking residents in the area of Brock Street and Nelson Street to check their property in case any clothing or other potential evidence from the suspect may have been discarded.

Police describe the suspect as Caucasian, 20-35 years old (age difficult to determine due to disguise), average height and build, 6’0”, and 170 pounds.
At the time of this incident he was wearing a black hoodie with red and white “CANADA” text across the chest and red striping under the arms and down both sides. There appears to be a white tag or logo on the front centre portion of the hood.

He was also wearing black pants with a white stipe on both legs, white and black running shoes, a black balaclava or scarf covering most of his face, a black backpack and a black handgun or imitation pistol.
