Queen’s University Alumni, Nick Adams & Taes Leavitt – otherwise known as award-winning children entertainers and Treehouse TV stars, Splash’N Boots – will be making their way to Winnipeg next month as JUNO Award nominees.

This is the first JUNO nomination for the creative duo, who began their career in children’s entertainment as a class project while students at Queen’s. Their 6th album, “Coconuts Don’t Fall Far From the Tree“, is in the running for Children’s Album of the Year.

The album’s name and song titles (as well as some lyrics) were suggested and chosen by Splash’N Boots fans on the group’s Facebook page, making “Coconuts Don’t Fall Far From the Tree” the ultimate collaboration been the group and its fans.

“We’re beyond excited to have been nominated for a JUNO Award this year,” said Taes (the group’s ‘Boots’). “To have your music recognized by the JUNOs is our country’s highest honour, and words can’t describe how thrilled we are to be nominated among so much Canadian talent.”

Splash’N Boots has been twice named Canadian Children’s Group of the Year at the Sirius XM Independent Music Awards, had their JUNO nominated album hit number one on Bandcamp in its first week of release, and recently filmed a brand new TV pilot with special guest star Fred Penner.

The duo filmed six 6 minute episodes in December for a new children’s television show with Backroad Productions. Fred Penner, who starred in the iconic CBC hit show “Fred Penner’s Place” in the 80’s and 90’s, guest starred in one of the episodes as their helpful neighbour, “Fred”. The episodes will be shopped to a variety of networks in 2014 and the group hopes Penner will have a recurring role in future episodes.

Splash’N Boots has released of 7 CDs – including “Coconuts Don’t Fall Far From the Tree” – 2 DVDs, and received national television exposure including a crossCanada Filmed Live Tour on Treehouse TV.

The Award nominations were announced on February 4 and Juno Week will be held in Winnipeg from March 24th to the 30th.
