To celebrate Business Wire’s 50th Anniversary, college students were invited to submit short videos that answered the question “What is the Future of Public Relations and Communications?”.
This week, Business Wire – a Berkshire Hathaway company that is the global leader in press release distribution and regulatory disclosure – announced the competition’s ten finalists, which included only one student from a University outside the United States: Zan Zhang of Queen’s University here in Kingston.
Zhang, a Commerce student at Queen’s, is now vying for the winner’s prize of traveling to New York City to meet and dine at the New York Stock Exchange with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, and Cathy Baron Tamraz, CEO of Business Wire.
“One lucky student will soon be on the way to share lunch with Mr. Buffett,” said Jessica Lueck, the Marketing Associate at Business Wire who came up with the contest idea. “The caliber of these submissions will make him proud.”
Business Wire says it welcomes comments on social media outlets through to August 31 and the video entry by Queen’s University finalist Zan Zhang can be viewed and commented on at its Facebook page.
Twitter users can also weigh in by posting a tweet and include Zhang’s assigned hashtag: #BWZAN.
The winning video – based on originality, creativity, and appropriateness to theme – will be chosen by an executive committee that includes Business Wire CEO Cathy Baron Tamraz and President Gregg Castano.
Constest results will be posted on September 7 and the winner will join CEOs Buffett and Tamraz at the Business Wire opening bell luncheon at the New York Stock Exchange on September 30, 2011.
