With work set to begin on the John Counter Boulevard bridge over the CN rail lines, the contractor awarded the project – R.W. Tomlinson Ltd. – is hosting an update open house for nearby businesses.
Staff from the contractor and the City will be on hand Thursday, July 25 between 6:30pm and 8:30pm at the Ambassador Hotel, 1550 Princess Street. They will answer questions and outline what local businesses can expect to see in the coming weeks and months. Members of the public are also invited to attend.
Now that the bridge embankment has been completed and settled, work can begin on building the bridge, new pedestrian and cycling facilities, and a new entrance to the VIA Rail station. There will also be intersection improvements along John Counter Boulevard with new sets of traffic signals at Old Mill Road and the new Portsmouth Avenue intersection.
This Phase 5b part of the construction is expected to be completed in 2021. For more project details, visit CityofKingston.ca/JCB.
