Online Charity Auction to Help Local Youth in Foster Care

in News by

Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington is seeking the community’s help as it announces the launch of the Futures Auction, a new online charity auction happening in July.

The auction will support the Futures Fund, the agency’s bursary program which sends youth in its care to college and university every year.

Last year, the fund spent $57,000 – the most it has spent on bursaries in 100 years – to help 21 local youth, described by Family and Children’s Services as young people who have grown up in its foster care system; many of them having no real family of their own.

“In the past, we’ve raised much of the money we need from our annual charity golf tournament called Swing For Success,” said Family and Children’s Services in a release. “This year, we’re giving Swing For Success a rest and concentrating on the Futures Auction. We’re hoping to create some cool experiences and great prizes for the auction. Everything will be online – the prizes, bidding and more.”
