Councillor Jim Neill marked the completion of upgrades to the Memorial Centre playground on Sunday at an 11 am ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the public enjoying the playground and a free swim at the Tomlinson Aqua Park pool.
Attendees were also invited to check out the Memorial Centre Market during its regular Sunday hours of 9 am to 2 pm.
The new park features play equipment, paths, seating, picnic tables and trees (see final plan below). The Memorial Centre is located at 303 York Street.
“I’m very glad that upgrades to Memorial Park at Kingston’s Memorial Centre are completed,” said Mayor Paterson, in a release. “This iconic spot in the heart of Kingston’s midtown is an area filled with recreation activities, family fun events year round, and now a new and improved playground for the community to enjoy!”
