Members of Tallack Martial Arts, along with Tallack’s Karate Kids Program from twelve Kingston area primary schools, will be raising funds for the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Campaign this Saturday November, 24 at 10am.

UPDATE: Ken Tallack’s 23rd event raised over $2,300 this year.

Prizes were also given to the top three fund raisers: (1) Jonah Doherty, (2) Aiden Robinson, and (3) William Mitchell.

According to a release, Kingston’s Karate Kids have received sponsorship from friends and neighbors – raising funds when the Karate Kid successfully completes the 500 Technique Challenge of performing 500 consecutive Karate moves.

As a reward for their efforts, the participants can then compete in either a Basic Skills Challenge in events like “highest kick” “farthest jump kick’ “Most punches in 30 seconds” and more advanced students will compete in Karate Forms contests for awards. Prizes are also given for the top three fund raisers.

This annual event – which has raised over $100,000 in the past – takes place this year at Lancaster Drive Public School (1020 Lancaster Dr.) on November 24 beginning at 10am.
