The City of Kingston issued a statement today to announce Air Canada has scheduled Bombardier Dash 8-400 planes to service one flight from Kingston to Toronto Pearson each Saturday between January 12 to March 23.

The Dash 8-400 features more seats and and larger overhead, carry-on luggage bins than the most frequently seen aircraft in Kingston, the Dash 8-100 and Dash 8-300, and will take advantage of the recently completed extension of the main north-south runway.

“Air Canada bringing in this larger plane signals a bump in customer demand,” said Rick Reed, manager of Kingston Airport, in the statement, adding: “As efforts to modernize our airport continue, we look forward to more developments of this kind.”

This news comes on the heels of the completion of the extension of the main north-south runway last week. “As efforts to modernize our airport continue, we look forward to more developments of this kind,” adds Reed.
