With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Amazon.ca announced its third annual ranking of the Top 20 Most Romantic Cities in Canada where Kingston came in first place.
The city’s rank leaped from last year’s list, where Kingston came in at #7 and Victoria BC was deemed the most romantic city for 2011.
This year, Victoria dropped to fifth place – beaten out by Guleph, which came in #2 (for the second year in a row), followed by Kelona BC and Oakville Ontario.
And this year Kingston wasn’t simply the overall winner, but its people were also considered most likely to “curl up on the couch with both a ‘Rom-Com’ (Romantic Comedy movie) and a Danielle Steel novel” than in any other Canadian city.
The results also revealed that although nearly half of Canada’s 20 Most Romantic Cities lie in Ontario, both Toronto and Ottawa don’t rank as passionate as their smaller neighbours.
The list was compiled by comparing data from the Amazon.ca sales of romance novels, sex and relationship books, romantic comedy DVDs, and Michael Bublé CDs since January 1, 2012 on a per capita basis in cities with over 80,000 residents.
