Input Wanted for New Park on Former St. Joseph & St. Mary School Site

The City of Kingston is seeking the public’s feedback and suggestions on plans for the new park located at the former Napier Street and St. Joseph/St. Mary school site.

There are a few opportunities to provide input during the month of July, including pop-ups at the park itself.

First, a Get Involved open house will take place on Wednesday, July 11 between 6pm and 8pm at the Princess Street United Church, 484 Albert St.

There will also be two Pop-ups in the park at the former Napier Street and St. Joseph/St. Mary schools site, depending on the weather, on Tuesday, July 17 from 10am until 11am and another between 3pm and 4pm on Thursday, July 19.

In a City release, Parks Development manager Neal Unsworth described the events as “an opportunity for those living or working in the neighbourhood to come out and put their stamp on their new park.”

Two Open House and Pop-ups will present concepts of the park that show connections between the parkland and MacDonnell Street, how Napier Street could be integrated into the existing green spaces, and other park-improvement options including play equipment.

Residents can choose from a variety of options and staff and consultants will be on hand to answer questions.

Children are welcome to attend the events and activity bags will be available for them.

For more on this project, see the Napier Street Closure page in the City of Kingston website Projects section.
