Hooded Man Arrested After Early Morning Encounter inside Home

Kingston Police report a 23 year old local man has been charged after an early morning encounter inside a downtown home.

At approximately 4:30am this morning, a hooded man entered through the window of a residence and proceeded to steal a cell phone, a pair of scissors, and cut some wires in an attempt to steal a television.

The man then began climbing the stairs to the next floor when he was spotted by one of the home’s residents using the washroom who screamed out. Another resident then chased the accused down the stairs and out the front door.

Police were contacted and soon located a male matching the description exiting the backyard of a Main Street location. He was subsequently placed under arrest after being found in possession of the stolen scissors and cellphone.

The man was transported to police headquarters and held to attend a bail hearing the following day; charged with break and enter, theft, mischief, possession of stolen property, prowl at night, and two counts of breach probation.
