Former Queen’s University Principal, Karen Hitchcock, has been hired as a U.S. lobbyist by Park Strategies LLC.
Park Strategies, which describes itself as “among the most sought after public policy and business development firms in the country, providing strategic advice and consulting services to a wide array of clients throughout the U.S. and around the world”, was founded in 1999 by former U.S. Senator Alfonse M. D’Amato.
The lobby firm’s website states that D’Amato is considered an expert in the legislative and political process, maintains close relationships with Members of Congress, and is regularly called upon for his advice and counsel.
Park Strategies describes itself as having its roots in government relations and has grown to become a full service strategic planning and management consulting firm.
It provides specialized advice, assistance, and counsel in a variety of areas, including federal and state legislative lobbying.
Karen Hitchcock has been hired a special advisor for the development of strategic relationships between educational institutions and commercial enterprises.
In the staff section of their website, Park Strategies describes her work at Queen’s University, and previously as President of SUNY’s University at Albany, as “being committed to fostering university – business – government partnerships in order to enhance the quality of education and foster economic development.”
It goes on to state:
“In Canada, similar partnerships of Queen’s University with industry and government led to the establishment of a major new research park dedicated to energy and environmental technologies and advanced materials; and with strong state and city support and private giving, a new University Performing Arts Center will soon grace the shores of Lake Ontario.”
