Family and Children’s Services Posts “Horror Movie” to Help Kids

It comes every year. There’s no way to stop it. You can’t run. You can’t hide.

It’s WINTER – and, although there’s nothing that can be done to prevent it, the Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FACSFLA) have produced a fun video highlighting those cold weather horrors, while enabling you to do something to make Summer last as long as possible for local kids.

This year, a simple text from your phone can give the gift of Summer to children by helping to send them to Summer Camp.

So far, the FACSFLA has sent more than 30 kids to camp. But there are 30 more children who want to go – and the agency could easily find more to send, if they had the funds.

If enough money isn’t raised to send the remaining children to Summer Camp, chances are most of them won’t go. Their families can’t afford it or they face other barriers.

Throughout July, anyone with a smart phone will be able to make a donation to the Give A Kid Summer Campaign by texting “summer” to 45678 and donating up to $20.00.

The donation will show up on their phone bill from Bell, Fido, Koodo Mobile, Rogers, Solo Mobile, TELUS, Videotron, Virgin Mobile or WIND Mobile.

“This is a really simple way to help disadvantaged kids in our community. The power to help is right in the palm of your hand,” said Steve Woodman, Executive Director of Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.
