Kingston Fire & Rescue Welcomes New Deputy Chief

Kingston Fire & Rescue has announced that Kevin Donaldson, the former general manager/fire chief for Greater Napanee, will begin his new position as deputy fire chief beginning October 2.

The new deputy chief is currently enrolled in Humber College’s Fire Service Executive Management Certificate program and has continued his own professional development throughout his career.

“Donaldson brings more than 20 years of fire service experience to our team,” said Fire Chief Shawn Armstrong. “He’s a motivator with an interest and ability in the professional development of firefighters.”

According to a City release, Kevin Donaldson began his fire service career as a volunteer in 1995 with the Stone Mills Township Fire Department, taking on the position of deputy chief there in 2011 where he managed four stations and 100 firefighters. In 2014, Donaldson became deputy fire chief with Greater Napanee Emergency Services and then general manager/fire chief one year later.

Donaldson has also acted as treasurer of the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington County Chiefs’ Association, represented the town on a Habitat for Humanity Project, and been a Level 2 Trainer for the Stone Mills and Loyalist townships’ Minor Hockey Associations.
