Yesterday morning at 11:40 am, a white male wearing a winter coat and covering his face with a scarf and toque demanded cash from a cashier at a Kingston CIBC branch and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A social media release by Kingston City Police soon followed, featuring bank camera images of the suspect as well as a request to keep an eye out for signs of the dye pack which had been inserted with the money, including the presence of dye on a person or money.

That evening, a downtown business had a female patron they were familiar with attempt to purchase a product with currency that had dye or ink on it. Staff, aware of the earlier robbery report, contacted Kingston Police who located the female a short distance away.
The individual was questioned by police and an investigation led detectives to a Kingston residence where the accused male and female were identified. Having reasonable grounds, police arrested and charged the couple for the robbery.

They were both scheduled to attend a bail hearing today at the 279 Wellington Street Provincial Court.
