As diners prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day, online restaurant reservations provider OpenTable has released its list of 2018’s most romantic restaurants in Canada.
OpenTable, a part of The Priceline Group, compiled the list of 100 restaurants by combining the opinions of over 500,000 restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 2,000 restaurants.
The list includes establishments from 46 cities across nine provinces with Ontario containing the most romantic restaurants with a total of 40.
Alberta was next with 20 restaurants, followed by British Columbia with 14 and Quebec with 13. The Niagara region – “the honeymoon capital of the world” – was the area featuring the most selected restaurants with a total of 12.
The reviews determining this year’s list were collected between December 1, 2016 and November 30, 2017.
OpenTable described its ranking methodology by saying “all restaurants with a minimum overall score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of reviews for which “romantic” was selected as a special feature.”
