Celebrate Ontario – a government investment to boost the tourism sector and create jobs – is funding eight Kingston events with $272,996.
The funding is intended to help event organizers “enhance programming, activities and services so that festivals and events can offer new experiences, reach new audiences and support jobs in their communities.”
Overall, Celebrate Ontario is spending $20 million to support 328 festivals and events across the province, the highest in the history of the program. It states that past recipients’ data indicates that every $1 of Celebrate Ontario funding triggers $21 in visitor expenditures.
The following local events will receive funding in 2018:
$20,925 – Skeleton Park Arts Fest Expansion: June 20-24

$30,000 – The Kick & Push Festival: July 19-August 12
$23,875 – Kingston Writersfest: September 26-30
$78,082 – Fort Fright Event Enhancement: October 1-31
$25,000 – Kingston Wine And Food Festival: November 15-17
$4,000 – Snow Much Fun And Holiday Market: December 7-23
$62,000 – Telecasting: February 28-March 3
