City of Kingston Seeks Workers for 2014 Municipal Election

The City of Kingston is seeking individuals interested in working for the 2014 municipal election.

The Election Office is currently accepting employment applications for Machine Operators, Site Supervisors, Deputy Returning Officers, Revision Officers, and Demonstrators to work at voting locations.

These positions are needed to be filled for Advance Voting Day on Saturday, October 18 and on Voting Day itself, which takes place on Monday, October 27.

Successful applicants will have to attend a required training session that will be scheduled during the first two weeks of October.

Kevin Arjoon, Assistant Returning Officer for the City, reported in a release that they are looking for applicants with strong computer skills because of new technology the City is introducing at the polls.

These positions offer the following rates of pay (the training session is contained in this fee):

• Site Supervisors – $250 per day
• Deputy Returning Officer – $200 per day
• Machine Operators – $175 per day
• Revision Officers – $150 per day
• Demonstrators – $110 per day

Applicants must submit their forms in person to the Election Office at City Hall, 216 Ontario St. where they will be asked to complete an open book exam within 45 minutes. The submission deadline is 3 p.m. on Friday, September 5th.
