Kingston Man Wins $2 Million with Ontario 49

The OLG has announced that Kingston resident Ronald Lloyd of Kingston has claimed his ONTARIO 49 top prize worth $2 million.

Lloyd told the OLG he has been playing the lottery for decades and discovered his win while at the store purchasing tickets for the next draw.

“I thought I won $2,000 when I first saw it, then I looked again and noticed it was $2 million,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I wanted to think about it for a bit, so I went home to look up the winning numbers online to make sure the little machine at the store wasn’t lying to me.”

The great-grandfather said he had fun sharing the news with his sons. “When I showed them the ticket, it was really funny to see their reaction, because we play a lot of jokes on each other.”

He plans to share his win with his immediate family. “It gives us all the opportunity to benefit from this. I might splurge and treat myself to a new vehicle. I feel very fortunate.”

The winning ticket was for the September 8, 2021 draw and purchased at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Princess Street in Kingston.
