The annual Pitch-In Kingston volunteer community clean-up event takes place from April 22 to 29 – encouraging community groups, individuals and businesses to celebrate the start of spring by cleaning up waste from local parks, streets, and shorelines.
A part of the national Pitch-In Canada event, Pitch-In Kingston is organized by Sustainable Kingston and supported by Tim Horton’s and the City of Kingston. Over 5,000 participants joined in locally last year and organizers are hoping to reach 6000 this year.
“We are hoping all residents who are able to, will participate in Pitch-In Kingston and share their good work on social media using #PitchInYgk,” said Tess Wittmann, community engagement specialist with Sustainable Kingston.
There will be almost two dozen places around town to pick up free garbage bags between April 8 and 29 by participants, including many Tim Horton’s locations. The City of Kingston’s Solid Waste Department has scheduled an event specific collection run for the filled bags on Monday, April 29.
A list of locations for garbage bag pick-ups and drop-offs along with additional information and a registration form can be found at this Sustainable Kingston events page.
