Free tax return preparations will be offered by the Kingston Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario Association, with assistance from St. Lawrence College accounting students, to eligible students and members of the community on April 13 and 27.
“This is a valuable, real-world learning opportunity for students to gain practical experience while making an impact and helping those in need,” said Alynn Boyle CPA, CGA, SLC business professor. “Volunteering with the CPA’s allows our students to learn from industry professionals and put into practice what they are being taught in the classroom.”
Tax clinics complete tax returns free of charge for eligible persons – based on income and family size – and are hosted by community organizations across the country through the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
