Volunteers Needed to Drive Local Children to Appointments

Published on: 2014/01/24 - in Featured News

Family and Children’s services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington report they urgently need 10 new volunteer drivers.

The agency, which pays drivers’ mileage, relies on volunteers to help drive children to key appointments primarily in Kingston but also across the region. Some of these drives are for regularly scheduled appointments while others are special one-time occassions.

According to Family and Children’s Services, their volunteers log enough kilometers every year to go round the Earth 13 times. And without those volunteers, many services may be negatively impacted.

Volunteer driver applicants must be 18 years or older and provide a valid “G” license, proof of insurance, and references. They will also need a police and motor vehicle records check.

Those interested in volunteering can contact Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington at their main number (613) 545-3227 , Extension 3370, or toll-free at (855) 445-3227 . FACSFLA can also be reached at their email address: info@facsfla.ca
