Toys for Parking Tickets Program Extended to December 11

Published on: 2012/12/07 - in Featured Releases

Got a parking ticket?

Pay for it with a toy today, Monday or Tuesday (Dec 10 & 11) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, 216 Ontario St.

Parking tickets received between Nov. 1 and Dec. 7 – excluding tickets for unauthorized parking in an accessible parking space – can be paid for with a new unwrapped toy of a value equal to or greater than the amount of the ticket (include a receipt with the toy).

Recommended gifts include: knapsacks, games, cars, trucks, dolls and plush toys (no toys using glue or batteries, and no war toys can be accepted).

The toys are gathered under the tree at City Hall’s Payment Centre and are then delivered to the toy drive in time to be distributed to children over the holidays.

UPDATE (December 13):  The City reports that this year’s Toys for Tickets program collected 308 toys, representing $3,010 in parking fines.
