Springer Market Square Skating Rink Opens

Published on: 2012/11/30 - in Featured News

Get your skates out, because the rink at Springer Market Square opened at 3 p.m.  today, Friday November 30th.

“Staff has been able to build sufficient ice to open the outdoor skating surface, the long range forecast isn’t promising and the rink will most likely need to be temporarily closed due to warmer weather,” said Manager Recreation Facilities, Luke Follwell.  “We will strive to maintain a safe and enjoyable skating surface for as long as possible.”

The rink is located at King and Brock Streets is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.  every day from December to March, weather-permitting.

If the weather is sketchy, you can visit the City’s “Skating in the Square” webpage to see if it’s open and to review the rink’s rules.

Skating in the Square is FREE and a great activity to enjoy with friends and family in downtown Kingston.

A warming/change area is available to use, complete with lockers (bring your own lock), and accessible washrooms can be found in the lower level of City Hall’s Market Wing.

An access ramp is located at the North courtyard off Brock Street.

Visit the City’s “Skating in the Square” webpage to review the rink’s rules and to check to see if it is open when the weather is iffy.
