Crystal Head Vodka – the premium Canadian spirit co-founded by Kingston area resident, Dan Aykroyd – posted an update to its official Facebook page this weekend, hinting that their large 1.75L skull shaped bottles will soon be available to buy in Ontario:

Exciting news Ontario!
We have heard your pleas…
We have felt your passion…
And something BIG is HEAD-ing your way soon!

Although launched in 2008, the premium vodka was banned by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario due to its skull shaped bottle being “in bad taste”, until October 2011 when the LCBO began carrying the 750 ml and 50 ml size bottles. A check of the LCBO website reveals that they are currently listing the large 1.75L bottles of Crystal Head Vodka in “limited supply”.

UPDATE: On November 14, CHV posted to Facebook that the 1.75 litre bottle is now available at the LCBO (and $10 off until Dec. 1st).

Dan Aykroyd continues to promote Crystal Head Vodka in bottle signing tours around the world, enjoying extensive media coverage at each stop in large part due to his celebrity as a Saturday Night Live alumnus and star of hit movies that include “Ghostbusters” and “The Blues Brothers”.

Crystal Head is the official vodka of the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary tour and has been awarded a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, two awards at the 2012 Australian Liquor Industry Awards, and a Gold Medal at the 2013 PRODEXPO Exhibition in Moscow.

Dan Aykroyd has continued to promote CHV in Australia with hopes of Canadian dates to follow. His newest acting role is in the James Brown biopic, “Get on Up”, where he will portray Ben Bart, the president of the agency that represented Brown’s long career.

Aykroyd was also announced as an Executive Producer of a new biopic for his long-time friend and fellow Blues Brother, John Belushi, which is now looking to cast the role of a young Dan Aykroyd.
