A new trailer has been released for the upcoming animated film, “Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return”, which prominently features the talents of Kingston area resident, Dan Aykroyd, voicing the character of the Scarecrow.
The remaining cast joining Aykroyd include the voices of his Blues Brothers friend Jim Belushi as the Cowardly Lion, Kelsey Grammer as the Tin Man, Lea Michelle as Dorothy, and fellow Canadian Martin Short as the villainous Jester. Another local connection can be found in the song writing, which is credited to acclaimed singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, who was born in Kingston in 1959.
Dan Aykroyd has also voiced characters in animated and videogame versions of “Ghostbusters”, as well as in the animated films “Antz” and 2010’s “Yogi Bear”, where he voiced the title character alongside Queen’s University alumnus, Tom Cavanagh, who portrayed his nemesis, Ranger Smith.
“Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” is set to hit North American theatres on May 9, 2014. It’s newest trailer is featured below (or watch on Youtube). Find out more about the film on its website or on Facebook.
