CBC Series “Murdoch Mysteries” to Film in Kingston

CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries will be filming in Kingston next week and they’re inviting the public to come watch them in action and have a chance at meeting stars Yannick Bisson (Det. William Murdoch) and Hélène Joy (Dr. Julia Ogden).

Two scenes will be filmed for an upcoming episode in Springer Market Square behind City Hall on Monday, September 30, 2019 between 8:30 and 11am. The first 50 people to arrive at the clearly marked “Fan Viewing Area” will receive a wristband – distributed on a first-come, first served basis – allowing them to take part in a photo meet & greet with the two stars between about 10:15 and 10:45am.

Fans who don’t get a wristband are invited to stay and watch the filming and also take part in the Murdoch Mysteries Trivia game from 10:15-1045am. Participants who answer correctly could win one of ten Murdoch Mysteries swag bags.

Murdoch Mysteries follows the adventures of William Murdoch, a detective in the 1890s who uses radical forensic techniques for the era, including fingerprinting and trace evidence, to solve some of the city’s most gruesome murders.

Springer Market Square was also used in an 1890s period piece back in 2014 when it was featured in the Guillermo del Toro film “Crimson Peak”.

Murdoch Mysteries will reportedly continue filming at other city locations during the week, including the former Kingston Penitentiary – site of recent shoots for an upcoming episode of DC’s Titans, a Headstones music video, and the Netflix/CBC mini-series for Margaret Atwood’s “Alias Grace” that aired in 2017.
