Two of Dan Aykroyd’s Diamond Estate wines were recently awarded at the 2015 All Canadian Wine Championships held in Prince Edward County, Ontario.
It was the 35th anniversary for the three day event, which featured a record 1356 entries from 237 wineries, meaderies and cideries that were critiqued by a panel of 19 judges.
The 2012 Dan Aykroyd Wines Cabernet Sauvignon won silver in its category and the 2013 Dan Aykroyd Wines Cabernet Merlot was awarded with a bronze in the Bordeaux Blends under $25 category.
All of Dan Aykroyd’s wines are produced and distributed by Diamond Estate Wines at Niagara on the Lake, Ontario.
“Again and consistently the talented winemakers at Diamond are providing Ontario consumers with a premium special event wine to accompany summer outdoor entertaining,” wrote Dan Aykroyd, in a Facebook post about the wins. “The merlot as well as a high quality supplement to grilling, smoking, barbeque and other cottage and dockside food related activities.”

Established in 1981, the All Canadian Wine Championships identifies itself as being Canada’s oldest wine competition. According to its Facebook page, contest entries are scored using the 100 point scale, examined for sensory components, varietal character, and structural soundness.
