Dan Aykroyd wrote to his social media fans yesterday that he is honoured to be appointed to the Order of Ontario alongside a fellow Kingston resident.
The appointment was announced last week by the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Chancellor of the Order of Ontario. He joins 22 other new recipients of the province’s highest honour, including mental health advocate Dr. Dorothy Cotton.
Aykroyd acknowledged Dr. Cotton in posts to Twitter and Facebook, writing: “Most grateful to be honoured in my home province alongside fellow Kingstonian Dr. Dorothy Cotton whose work in improving police interaction with the mentally ill wholly deserves this recognition. True greatness.”
