Kingstonians looking to reminisce (or discover for the first time) many of the most popular hits from the 70s need to check out “Close to You”, a concert of local musicians performing songs by The Carpenters this evening.

The Carpenters were a successful brother & sister duo who performed some of the most popular original and cover songs from that era, including “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Top of the World”, “Close to You”, “There’s Kind of a Hush”, and many more.

This tribute to The Carpenters, begins at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 15 at Cooke Street United church. The group plans to also bring the show on a tour of theaters from Ottawa to Toronto.

“Close to You” performers include Queen’s professor of music, Darrell Bryan, drummer Duncan Holt, and musicians Jan and Mark Wilkins.

Cooke Street United Church is located at 200 Norman Rogers Drive. Tickets can still be purchased on Evenbrite and the show begins tonight at 7:30pm.
