Kingston-born rocker Bryan Adams is scheduled to perform at the closing ceremonies of the Invictus Games in Toronto this fall, along with Bachman & Turner – Randy Bachman and Fred Turner of the hit Canadian group Bachman–Turner Overdrive.
Adams, who was born to a military family here in Kingston back in 1959, will appear at the Air Canada Centre ceremony on Saturday, September 30th.
Other performers at the Games, which takes place from September 23rd to the 30th, include French-Canadian singer-songwriter Coeur de pirate, Alessia Cara and Sarah McLachlan and the Tenors, and original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson.
The Invictus Games is a sports competition involving injured service veteran athletes that was founded by Prince Harry (Prince Henry of Wales KCVO). The first Invictus Games took place in 2014 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England.
This year 27 countries will be represented by 550 athletes competing in 12 sports including including archery, track and field, swimming and golf – the newest addition to the Games.
