Last week, the Backstreet Boys reported new tour dates in the States and Canada with their “special guest” Avril Lavigne.
But unfortunately there will be no near-hometown concert for Lavigne when the Backstreet Boys play their Kingston concert on May 6, as the singer-songwriter – who was raised in Napanee, just outside Kingston – will be performing at her own South American shows on May 4th and 7th.
The Backstreet Boys won’t meet up with Avril until May 22 when they will all appear in Seattle and continue touring together until June 22 .
This will be the first concert for the successful “boy band”, although Aaron Carter – brother of the BB’s Nick Carter, who had his own hit song “I Want Candy” and appeared with Nick on the reality show “House of Carters” – played a sold out concert at The Mansion in Kingston back in September.
Avril Lavigne recently completed an extensive Asian tour and just filmed a new video (“Hello Kitty”) in Japan from her self-titled album. The singer’s last near-hometown concert was at the K-Rock Centre in April 2008.
Tickets for the Backstreet Boys concert at the Rogers K-Rock Centre went on sale this morning.
