Avril Lavigne Back in Studio, Friends Rally After Assault

Although her Black Star tour concert dates in Canada were completed just last month, Avril Lavigne is already back in the studio working on her next album. That announcement came just over a week after she and boyfriend Brody Jenner were assaulted by five people outside a Los Angeles Hotel.

Since that assault, Lavigne has gone on Twitter to thank fans, friends and family for their well wishes, as well as tweeting about friends who have dropped by to show support.

The day following the November 6 incident, Lavigne thanked long time friend and band-mate, Evan Taubenfeld, for paying a visit with a ‘Hello Kitty‘ ice pack (no doubt for Avril to use on injuries sustained in the attack).

More recently, the singer/song-writer tweetedHanging with one of the most special people to me in this world….real friends last” accompanied by a photo of her with ex-husband and SUM 41 lead singer, Deryck Whibley (lower right).

Lavigne – or ‘sources’ close to the star – also released a photo of her injuries to one of her previously harshest critics, Perez Hilton.  Making that photo public may have been in response to a grainy paparazzi picture taken of Lavigne with her head down, reportedly shot soon after the assault, which speculators used to question the validity of her reported injuries.

In the subsequently released and much clearer photo (which appears on Perez Hilton’s site), a number of scratches – including one very near to her left eye – are clearly visible.

Undeterred by this assault, Lavigne confirmed on Twitter that she is back in the studio and now joined Epic Records, working once again with L.A. Reid – the Chairman & CEO of Epic Records who signed her to a contract when she was 15 years old.

Avril was joined in the studio by ‘The Runners’, Andrew “Dru Brett” Harr and Jermaine “Mayne Zayne” Jackson (pictured in top photo with Lavigne), a hip hop production team from Florida.

Perhaps best known for producing hit singles such as DJ Khaled’s “Go Hard” and “Hustlin” by Rick Ross, The Runners have also composed many songs for television including the intro to the FOX TV series “Americas Most Wanted”.

The duo have been making their own Twitter posts while in the studio, and reported their @TheRealRunners’ account popularity had jumped over 1900% within an hour of Lavigne announcing they were collaborating with her on new songs.

As mentioned above, boyfriend Brody Jenner was also injured in the assault earlier this month,  including a gash on his head from being struck with a bottle. He attended hospital later that night and has filed a report with police.

This month, the reality star is taking part in the “Movember” moustache growing charity event held each November to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer.  You can view Brody Jenner’s Movember profile page for more details or to make a donation.

Today, Avril Lavigne performed live on VH1 as well as appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.   There has been no official release date announced for her next album.
