In addition to hitting the stage more than a half hour late, the singer eventually lost her voice with a few songs still remaining in her set list.  Concert goers posted that her voice continued to crack during her hit song “Complicated”, which eventually led Lavigne to give up entirely – holding the microphone towards the crowd, who enthusiastically picked up where she left off and completed the song.

Although some reports indicated the songstress became emotional as the concert wound down, others – including fans in the front row – wrote that she seemed in good spirits and appeared bemused, though frustrated, with her fading voice.

UPDATE: Avril Bandaids, the top Avril Lavigne fan site, has posted amateur videos from tonight’s concert, including this video by Youtube user “Popgoer” showing Avril Lavigne good-naturedly struggle through her final song, “Complicated”, with help from the audience.

Lavigne finally admitted to fans who packed the HMV Hammersmith Apollo that she had had a bad day and couldn’t sing any longer before leaving the stage.

The singer’s Twitter posts before and after the show revealed an unspecified security incident had delayed her arrival, and she most recently posted to Facebook that “Shortly before my show tonight, there was a breach in security and now the police are handling (it)”.

Fans were united in expressing condolences and well wishes to the star online, and “Feel better Avril” became a worldwide trending term on Twitter – which the singer acknowledged and thanked fans for on her own Twitter account.

This is not the first security scare for Lavigne on the Black Star tour. In early August, just as she was preparing to launch into a cover of Cold Play’s “Fix You”, a fan dashed up on stage and startled the singer before he was pulled off stage by security.

Avril Lavigne was also featured in the news today after a Chicago area man was found guilty of first degree murder of his mother. According to prosecutors, the killing happened after the woman refused to arrange for tickets to an Avril Lavigne concert for her 39 year old son. He is to be sentenced November 22 and could face life in prison.

After completing her Europe concerts, Avril Lavigne comes to Canada for a coast to coast tour.

No “hometown” Kingston concert has yet been announced, although the city’s KROCK Centre did manage to become a late addition to Lavigne’s previous Canadian tour and – interestingly – the arena’s Twitter page currently has an Avril Lavigne photo as its background…

I was there last night and i thought she hadnt arrived yet by the way they announced “she is on her way”. Someone had told me that the stage had a 11:00 curfew, that just happends to be the same time she ended. This was my first concert so i cant be a judge on the sound in her voice being this is the first time i hadnt heard her on cd/itunes

Ok Well… I’m sorry she wasn’t feeling well. However…What was her excuse for being late on MONDAY OCT 10, at The Rexall Place?? She appeared drunk (now of course I could be wrong) but she seemed it, she slurred words, and babbled about nothing. She held the mic out for “US” to sing more often than not… Now I Liked her, but I believe me, I’d be hard pressed to buy tickets to see her again after this performance. I was VERY disappointed.
