Avril Lavigne as Snow White in Charming

The first trailer for Charming – the animated feature film from the producers of Shrek – was released this week, featuring a character voiced by nearby Napanee’s Avril Lavigne.

Avril plays Snow White, who is vying for the attention of Prince Charming (Wilmer Valderrama) along with Cinderella (Ashley Tisdale) and Sleeping Beauty (G.E.M.) as well as, it seems, just about every other woman in the kingdom.

The three beauties can be heard singing “Trophy Boy” in the trailer, a new song written and produced by Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy.

Also appearing on the film’s soundtrack are two songs written by Sia – one performed by the hit song-maker herself and the other by Charming star Demi Levato, who voices the lead character Lenora.

Sia also lends her voice to the character Half Oracle and two other characters are voiced by Nia Vardalo (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) and Monty Python’s John Cleese.

It’s been 10 years since Avril had a role in a feature film, last appearing in the Richard Gere movie The Flock in 2007.

She previously voiced an animated character in 2006’s Over the Hedge – the same year she had a part in Fast Food Nation starring Prince Charming himself, Wilmer Valderrama, who Avril remained friends with after the film’s release.

Fun Fact: Avril may be able to swap some Kingston stories with “Trophy Boy” songwriter, Patrick Stump, who shot a Fall Out Boy music video at Fort Henry in 2014.
