For one week only, between Thursday November 24th and December 1st, Alias Grace fans can bid on props and set decorations from the Netflix / CBC miniseries based on the Margaret Atwood novel.
There are 821 lots (items) listed as up for bid as of this writing – however the total number will be in excess of 1200 by auction date, as items are still being catalogued.
The types of props range widely – from 19th century style furniture and cabinets to buckets, lamps, vases and more.
Interesting items include three solid wood coffins with metal antique style locks, fitting the victorian period – each with one lock open and one closed, but no keys to go along with them.
Another unique prop is a full size rustic barn board outhouse.
Full size at over 7′ (86″) high, it was newly built by the production and then antiqued to look old. The outhouse wood is said to look like old barn board and it comes with a door but missing a few panels in the one side.
The auction site describes the item as: an awesome decor piece to compliant that old farm property or cottage. No word as to whether the outhouse was actually “used” or not.
Auctioneer Principal Liquidators Inc lists this as an online-only auction, although potential bidders can preview the items on location at Revival Film Studios (629 Eastern Ave in Toronto) on Wednesday November 30th from noon until 4 pm.
Successful bidders must pick up their purchases on Tuesday December 6th from 9 am to 4 pm or Wednesday December 7th from 10 am to 6 pm at Revival Film Studios (629 Eastern Ave)
