“Summer of ’69” was released in June 1985 as the fourth single from Adams’ fourth album, Reckless. Co-written with Jim Vallance, the song reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and – along with other Reckless hits, including “Run to You” and “It’s Only Love” – helped the album reach the number one position on the Billboard 200 album chart in August 1985.

The song has demonstrated its staying power many times of over the almost 35 years since its release, including being named one of Parade’s Top 10 “Songs of Summer” in 2018 and voted the song “Best at Making Brits Feel Young” the previous year.
